There are few things more frustrating to a parent than when your child doesn’t listen to you. It can feel like they are being disrespectful, it can be embarrassing when done in front of others, and sometimes it can even be dangerous. If you tell your child not to run out in front of traffic or touch a hot stove, what happens when they don’t listen? My first child was so easy. She was (and still is) sweet, she listened and wasn't purposefully ornery. Then I had my second, a boy. He was … [Read more...]
Time Outs and Toddlers (I need help!)
We are having the hardest time with our Little Man. I realize that two is a hard age. Really, it is much more difficult with this guy than it was with my Princess. He is meaner, more defiant, and very stubborn. We are at our wits end. I prayed for a really mellow second child - an easy going boy. I didn't realize that my Princess was our easy going child. She was so pleasant and easy to parent at this age compared to my Little Man. How did you make it through the toddler stage? We have … [Read more...]
Parenting A Toddler: 5 Important Tips
Time outs? Restrictions? Spankings? We have a very stubborn toddler here in our home. She like most three year old children need discipline. The punishment she dislikes the most is time outs. Be Attitudes of Raising a Strong Willed Child
Tips for Raising a Strong Willed Child I am by no means an expert. Most of the time I don't know what I am doing at this parenting thing. Some days I do think I am going crazy, but it is never a dull moment. My Princess is very independent, and though I sometimes complain about that, I am very glad. She is smart, cute, independent, and knows what she wants. Luckily, I am realizing in a very real way that I too tend to be strong willed , and I am slowly learning to give in, take a break, … [Read more...]
Toddler Discipline
I recently wrote a post about time outs with my toddler. I wanted to expand on that theme a bit by discussing toddler discipline. My 15 month old daughter is truly pushing her limits and as a result my limits have been stretched. I am trying not to lose patience but to be honest, sometimes that is difficult. I keep praying though and trying to be consistent. I also try not to laugh when things get so bad it is funny. Once I laugh I know I have lost her. She just keeps it up (fill in the … [Read more...]
Time Out
Well, I am at my wits end. (I feel like an old person when I use that statement.) Isabella just does not listen not matter what I do. So today after telling her no about a million times with no results, I put her in a timeout. We have a playpen that she has never used as a playpen or anything resembling play or sleep for that matter. She hates being put into it in fact. So she had a timeout in the playpen. She cried like I had done the absolute worst thing ever. I let her stay in there for … [Read more...]
