Our Princess has a new phrase. She likes to use it a lot now. And it is getting on mommy’s nerves! Here it is: “Papa, she’s not being nice to me!” (Or he if it is not a female.) It is her version of tattle tailing on us if we tell her not to do something, or try to discipline her. Of course, Papa then says, “Be nice to Bella.” It has become an evil game. (Evil in my eyes of course.) I finally had to have the serious talk and let all parties know that this statement was not allowed. I was … [Read more...]

Family Fun
We woke up Thanksgiving morning to snow! Lots of beautiful snow from 6 am to 11 am. What fun my Princess had sledding with the big kids at our golf course. It was so cold, I didn't want to go out in it, so I looked at the newspaper ads. So, no pictures to share. Sorry. (And, my hubby caught a cold after being out in it for an hour! Pray for him, please.) After such a big morning on the sled, trudging through snow, you would think my Princess would be hungry for my Tofurky. But nope. All … [Read more...]

Thanksgiving Traditions
source I have always loved Thanksgiving. Growing up my parents hosted our family dinners, and still do now. We invite family from both nearby reservations and have always had a large gathering of family, friends, food, fun and games. It has been a tradition to eat at 2pm. Then we visit and play games for the rest of the afternoon. It is not unusual for family members to stay until 9 or 10 pm. It is a long fun filled day. For the last 10 years a popular dish for the vegetarians in our … [Read more...]
Don’t Eat Meat
Our princess does not eat meat. The hubby and I occasionally eat salmon. (We live in the Pacific Northwest, people!) She has a wooden toy food play set that contains a slice of meat and she likes playing with it. She brought it to me and said, “Is this meat?” I answered, “Yes, it is a slice of lunch meat.” To which she replied, “I don’t eat meat.” So I said, “It is just pretend. What do you eat?” Thoughtfully, she replied, “Sushi, Taco Bell, and cereal.” Yep, our child eats very well rounded … [Read more...]
Not A Girl
A couple weeks ago, I blogged about the Princess not being Isabella anymore. Yesterday, as we were getting ready for the day, looking in the mirror, my Princess said, “I am not a girl anymore.” I asked, “Why?” She replied, “Because my hair looks like a boy. I am not a girl anymore.” I could only figure that because her hair was combed forward that she thought it looked like a boy. So I parted it and pushed it off her forehead. Then I said, “Okay, look in the mirror. Do you look like a girl … [Read more...]
