Weight Loss Made Simple

June 24, 2012 By LaVonne

Spread the love

I started Weight Watchers with my sister on Tuesday, June 12. I’d like to lose this baby weight and the 15 extra lbs that I had put on before I got pregnant. The first two weeks have been difficult. I am craving everything that I should not eat. Every day, I want chocolate and potato chips, maybe for the simple reason that I shouldn’t eat that, at least not as often any more. I stayed strong and the first weigh-in (on June 19), I lost 2.2 lbs. I started exercising again this week. Just walking, but that is better than no exercise. I think that my weight loss at the next weigh-in will reflect that. I hope. I pray.

What I really like about Weight Watchers:
  • I can eat the food I want (if I want chocolate or chips, I can, I just have to count the points)
  • I get to eat as many fruits and vegetables as I’d like (they are 0 points) – this is so cool. I definitely take advantage of this.
  • I get 14 extra points since I am breastfeeding – some days it is difficult to get all my points in, it is a lot of food actually.
  • I have 49 extra points per week, so I can splurge every now and then (for example, I splurged a bit with my husband on Father’s Day)

So here is one of my favorite Weight Watchers desserts (I made this one up, but I am sure someone else made it up too!)

Strawberry “Pie”
  • Strawberries, sliced (I use 10, but you can use what you’d like) – 0 Points
  • 6 Tbs Light Whipped Cream – 1 Point
  • 3 Graham Cracker Squares, broken up – ย 1 Point

Mix all together and you have a great bowl of yummy “Strawberry Pie” – Weight Watchers style of course for a total of 2 points!

Have you done a weight loss program before?

Which one?

Was it successful?

I’m doing WW right now! I absolutely love it. I wanted to see if you were interested in joining a little weight loss challenge I’m doing right now. Basically I’ve set goals between now and my birthday in March. I have a few pit stops along the way. And each month I team up with a group of bloggers who share their stories as well. We also host a giveaway a month. I’d love to send you the link/info if you want!

    LaVonne,
Whatever helps you works! The trick is not to lose weight, it’s to maintain it. Learn what WW do, and change your life style as you go along.
    You got my support Woman!,

Thanks! I do have to think of this is a lifestyle change not a diet. I really have learned a lot the last two weeks about portion control and choosing more wisely.

Awesome LaVonne! I have been doing WW since right before Christmas of last year, and I LOVE it! I have done it in the past and had temporary success. This time (with their new system), I have done really well. I have lost 28 pounds and reached goal a few weeks ago, and I am still losing weight.
I like your recipe. Thanks for sharing!

That is so great, Stacey. I didn’t realize I “knew” a few people online doing it too. Great job on reaching your goal. That is awesome. I can’t wait until I reach mine!

My mom does WW. The “pie” looks delicious and like a dessert we would both love! ๐Ÿ™‚

I am a lifetime Weight Watcher’s member. I joined when I was only 13! I have PCOS and it’s extremely hard to lose weight. Another problem I had was that I just wouldn’t eat. With Weight Watchers, I learned that eating was important, and eating the right kinds of food is extremely important. Over the years I have lost a total of 205lbs! At 13 I was a size (cringe) 28, now at 28 I vary between a size 16 and 20. With Weight Watchers I learned to be me, and eat well and lose weight, not only for my family, but for me and my health. Thank you for sharing your journey and recipe with us!

That is so great, Mara. I am impressed! I want to get back to a size 6. I have a little ways to go, but I feel confident that I can do it. I appreciate you sharing with me. It gives me hope.

I wish I had to lose weight, I need to GAIN it! My metabolism is so high, I can eat whatever and lose weight without even trying. It’s not as great as everyone thinks it is….

I do have a few friends who tell me that they wish they could gain weight. (They are vegan and eat quiet healthy, so it is difficult for them.) If only I had that problem a tiny bit ๐Ÿ˜‰ I know you suffer from Crohn’s so you have a valid reason to be thin. I hope others click on your personal story, since it is linked in your comment.

Good for you!! I have to lose weight due to an illness I just found out I have. I thought about joining WW but I am afraid I won’t be able to keep up with the weekly weigh-ins and everything. I am supposed to lose only 1 pound a week before my next doctor’s visit–no more, no less. UGH.

Dede, I didn’t know. I hope all is well. You can join WW online and not go to meetings. Last time I was on WW I didn’t go to meetings and I was able to lose the weight. Keep me updated!

I did WW and lost 40 pounds 7 years ago. I have kept off all 40 pounds and now am a size 2. It really works. It can be frustrating some weeks when the scale only goes down .5 pds but with time, it is truly an amazing plan! Good luck!

That is such great news, Melissa. It does give me hope. I just want to be a size 6 again. I was a 10 before I got pregnant this time around and so I have a bit to go, but I can do it! Thanks for the encouragement!

Nice blog! Is your theme custom made or did you download it
from somewhere? A design like yours with a few simple tweeks would really make my blog stand out.

Please let me know where you got your theme. Many thanks

I joined WW this year in January. I take 17 pills a day including 50 mg of Prednisone so my weight has gone wacko the last couple of years due to this stupid auto-immune disease I have. So far I’m down 31 pounds with 24 to go. Most days it’s not too bad, but then the craving for chips takes over..lol. If I was not taking the Prednisone I would have lost more but without it I don’t walk..:( Stick with it LaVonne you will feel so wonderful as the days go on and you will be that size 6 again before you know it. Your recipe sounds heavenly and I must try it.:)

Thanks, Deb. I know what you mean about chips. I crave candy, mostly chocolate now. I realize I can still eat it, but the points are so high, I have not. My WW leader at the meetings buys Ghiradelli Dark Chocolate Squares for 2 pts. She eats one every day. I don’t think it is enough, I think I’d just crave more! ๐Ÿ™‚ I appreciate your encouragement. I need it!
