I know Christmas is over, but we had such a great time this holiday season baking cookies. Family Christmas traditions are important and baking sugar cookies has been ours for quite some time. A sugar cookie kiss is always such a hit with family and friends of all ages. This year, we decided to make a bit extra and share them with our church family.
I am a big proponent right now at this stage in our life to make semi-homemade things. So I purchased the sugar cookies ready to bake. It is easier for us right now. As my Princess gets older I am sure we will start making more items from scratch. In addition to the sugar cookies, I also mixed in peppermint candy canes into the cookie dough, and topped them with a plain Hershey kiss. So easy and so yummy. Peppermint and chocolate is so good. You could use peppermint round hard candy as well for this.
During our baking time, my Princess had the sniffles and I had a watery eye. {Guess what my eye condition was a result of? Allergies! I was allergic to the new BB cream I purchased. After 1 1/2 months of miserable watery eye, I finally realized it when my BB cream ran out. No wonder my own breast milk wouldn’t work to cure it!}
So it was essential for us to buy some Kleenex. I love Kleenex. Not only is it a name I trust but I have some great memories of Kleenex as a child. Do you remember having to bring a box of Kleenex to school? Maybe they still do that. I don’t have kids in school yet, so that might still be on the Back to School shopping list. We used toilet paper at home when I was really small. {We were poor, and I don’t think Kleenex was on our family’s radar yet.} So picking out a new box of Kleenex and bringing it to school in 4th grade was pretty cool.
A 4pk box of Kleenex now has a $4 Vudu video credit! Don’t know what Vudu is? You must check it out. You can stream current movies and television shows right from your own television, blu-ray player, game system, tablet or phone very easily. We now have our Vudu account set up on our Roku and our television.
So, we listened to holiday music, wiped our face ailments with Kleenex and made a large batch of peppermint sugar cookie kisses.
I pulled out the food processor and ground down the candy canes. I mixed them into the sugar cookie dough.
My Princess and rolled 1 inch balls and baked them at 350 degrees for about 11 minutes.
While they were cooking my Princess got to work unwrapping chocolate kisses and trying not to eat them all up.
{See how she separates the wrapper from the paper? It is so like her to be this organized!}
Once the cookies were finished we pushed a candy right on top and let them cool.
Believe me, these cookies are yummy! And oh so easy. They would be great for Valentine’s Day!
To top off our fun family Christmas tradition – we were able to watch a movie on Vudu! I like how easily you can find movies on Vudu. I simply searched movies and set the genre to family. We chose Brave, the newest Disney movie. You can watch the trailer, and even watch a 2 minute preview! I like that.
Have you used Vudu before? Making semi-homemade cookies with your kids and watching a family movie on Vudu is a great family fun night!

Thanks for sharing your cookies. Chocolate and peppermint are right up my alley. I like that they are semi-homemade, and something I would actually have time to make.
