Toddler Conversation

August 12, 2010 By LaVonne

Can be funny.A Lesson in Ownership:Me: "Please stop touching my face."Princess: "But I want to touch your face mommy."Me: "It is my face, and I am asking you not to."Princess: "You're my mommy, my own mommy."Another lesson in Ownership:Me: "Move over, you are hogging my pillow."Princess: "We share."Me: "Yes, we do but I need some pillow too. You have to share with me."Princess: "We share mommy always." (Though I smiled at the use of 'always', which I don't think I heard her say before, I still … [Read more...]

How to Be a Good Mommy

August 10, 2010 By LaVonne

Good Mommy That is what I am striving to be. But most days, I need help. I freely admit it. I am convicted throughout the day about my lack of patience, my temper, my tone of voice. I want to be a good example to my daughter, Many days, life with a toddler - a two year old, can be exhausting, demanding, annoying, difficult... You name it and I have felt it. But, I want her to see Jesus in me no matter what. That is my biggest desire. But there are many days that I am rushing through my … [Read more...]

Breakfast Prayer

Breakfast Prayer

As I placed scrambled eggs and toast in front of my Princess for breakfast, I forgot to say a prayer for her food. She was watching Veggie Tales on Netflix and I was going to sit in the dining room. As I sat down with my own plate at the table, I could hear her in the other room: "Heavenly Father, my food, mama's food. Amen." Such precious words that quickly pierced my heart. What a great little girl I have. I am blessed beyond measure. It is so easy to get caught up in the day to day … [Read more...]

Speech Control

July 2, 2010 By LaVonne

My Princess is doing pretty well going #One on the potty. It is #Two that is not fun. Yesterday, she actually went, in her diaper, FOUR times! When that wipe hits her bottom, she whines, “Too Cold!”. To which, I reply, “Too Bad!” I know, I know, that is not very nice of me. But some days I am not very patient and understanding when it comes to poop. She has now learned to say, “Too Cold! Don’t say Too Bad, mommy!” Before I can even say my usual, “Too Bad”. She is so quick. This is not just … [Read more...]

Scaredy Cat

June 10, 2010 By LaVonne

That is what I was when I was three. A BIG scaredy cat. I was taking swimming lessons at a local pool. They put up a platform so that the shallow end would be even more shallow. As all the children held hands, and followed along with the instructor, singing Ring Around the Rosy, I was scared. At the end of the song when we all were supposed to "fall down", I was the only one who stayed up. Even at 3 years of age, that is so like me - a pretty big wuss. So, when we went to our outdoor community … [Read more...]

Hide and Seek

April 22, 2010 By LaVonne

So, now that my Princess understands the game Hide and Seek really well, and she hides when she goes number two - we now have a lethal combination. This week, while my husband was working in the garage (he is such a hard worker!), I was in the house cleaning up after breakfast. When I couldn't hear my Princess for a good length of time, I began to wonder if she was getting into some trouble. Silence usually equates to doing something she is not supposed to. I put down my towel, and started … [Read more...]

Potty Training Success

Our Potty Training Experience

Okay, something quite cool happened yesterday. Dum da da dum... (that is my drumroll) my Princess went Poo Poo on the potty! When she started to hide under the kitchen table we knew exactly what she was doing. Hiding to go poo poo. (Why in the world do kids do that? Just go on the toilet!) So we brought her into the bathroom, set her on the toilet seat, and waited. And waited. And guess what? She didn't go. I then did something drastic. It could have backfired (no pun intended). But I took … [Read more...]
