She’s Dealing with Divorce…

Dealing with Divorce

My close friend (since childhood) is dealing with divorce. After 15 years+ and three kids, it is a hard decision and I wish there were more I could do for her. This post has nothing to do with divorce specifically, when we should divorce, and casting blame. It has to do with showing others love when they need it most. With Valentine’s Day season coming up, and her birthday, I think this is the perfect time to show her extra love.

Do you have divorced friends that could use some extra love this season?

I visited my local Family Christian last week and bought a few small things that will show her that she is loved. And not just loved by me, but it is important that she remembers that she is loved by someone greater than me, God.

I think she is going to love it. I even went with a bit of a color theme. It’s fun to walk around the store and find many great gift ideas.

In addition to great gift ideas, I also wanted to share words of encouragement. These Bible verses are great to put on your friend’s Facebook page or in a nice handwritten card.

10 Encouraging Bible Verses for Divorced Women

Encouraging Bible Verses for Divorced

I have loved you with an everlasting love, therefore I have continued by faithfulness to you. Jeremiah 31:3

Trust in the lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. Proverbs 3: 3-5

You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD GOD is an everlasting rock. Isaiah 26:3, 4

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. John 14:27

So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Philippians 4:6

“For I know the plans I have for you” declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11

These things I have spoken to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world. John 16:33

Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he (God) cares for you. 1 Peter 5:6-7

Which verses could you add to this list?

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5: 8

That must be tough for her to deal with. I can’t imagine the pain she must be feeling. These are some great scriptures. You are a great friend. Hugs for your friend, I will be keeping her in my prayers.

Thank you Dominique! I know she appreciates your prayers. I can’t imagine the feelings either. I thank God for the blessing of a good husband.

These are great verses, and even having been divorced for 5+ years now, I can still use them. I will keep your friend in prayer. There is a scripture in I Timothy that says blessed is the woman who puts her trust in God. I am paraphrasing but it keeps me stayed sometimes.

Thank you Elizabeth – I appreciate that and I know she does too. I will look up that verse in 1 Timothy. Thank you for sharing it!
