Essential oils are a great way to naturally support your family’s overall health and well-being. It has been a busy month already for our family. Getting back from a 12 day vacation and jumping right into the holidays – I am feeling swamped. Plus, I’ve committed to being active at my local gym. (I’m paying for it, so I want to get my money’s worth.) I just need some me-time. It feels long overdue.
A great way to wind down and relax is using peppermint essential oil. My favorite way, right now to use this oil is by releasing some muscle tension in the evening, sitting on my couch and relaxing. No kids. No husband. Just me and a book, magazine, popcorn, or streaming a television show. {Awwww… I feel peaceful just writing about it.}
Peppermint Essential Oil for Massage
Do your muscles get sore and achy after working out? Peppermint essential oil and massage can help soothe that muscle tension. Simply mix 2-3 drops of peppermint with a carrier oil such as fractionated coconut oil or grapeseed oil and apply to the area.
Massaging overworked muscles is a great way to have “me-time” for sure!
More Uses for Peppermint Essential Oil
Feeling Energized
Peppermint essential oil on its own is great for feeling energized energy but for best results I recommend combining it with equal parts of lemon OR orange essential oil! Add 2-3 drops of peppermint and 2-3 drops of one of the citrus essential oils to your diffuser to help kickoff your day or to give your afternoon a pick me up!
Body Cooling
You can easily make a cooling spray using peppermint essential oil and water to cool you down when you are feeling warm/hot. Simply mix 3-4 drops of peppermint essential oil with 2-3 oz of water in a glass spray bottle. Mist yourself whenever you are feeling warm and you will notice the cooling sensation.
