Top 5 Reasons Why Turkey is a Great Vacation Destination

With its fabulous beaches, year round hot climate, historic ruins and exotic cities, there’s no doubt that Turkey makes for an exciting family vacation destination. Over 30 million visitors arrive in Turkey every year and the bonus with this country is that your budget can stretch a lot further than it will in other European countries.

Family vacations don’t have to be an ultra-expensive affair and here are a few reasons why cheap vacations are a viable option in Turkey:

Low Season Deals

Turkey boasts high temperatures all year round and especially along the Mediterranean coastline, which is home to some of its major beach resorts. In fact the Mediterranean coast really only has two seasons – summer and winter. And with the winter being short, the spring and autumn months tend to be warm and pleasant, and most importantly, cheap to travel as there are lots of vacation discount during these low tourist seasons.

The Beach is Free

High temperatures mean that the beach is the place to be and this comes at no extra cost. Beaches at Oludeniz (check out Butterfly Valley), Antalya, Kas and Cesme are incredibly beautiful, and offer opportunities to snorkel, swim and sunbathe. The clean sands and placid waters are child-friendly and a huge number of beaches have been awarded the Blue Flag status.

Value for Money Activities

You’ll find excellent prices in-country on activities including water-sports, excursions and sightseeing trips. Turkey has long been a favorite back-packer destination due to the inexpensive prices and low cost of living. Expect to pay at least 50% off the price you would pay in beachy locations like the Caribbean.

Inexpensive Meals

Turkey is known for its delicious cuisine; think kebabs, mezze, and the most amazing pastries, and dining out, even in the restaurants, is a lost-cost option. Cities such as Istanbul may be slightly more expensive but this will give you the impetus to explore the delicious street food scene that is famous in the city. All-inclusive packages are also an option and provide excellent value-for-money with drinks and meals included – great for families.

Inexpensive Travel

No doubt you’ll be looking to visit the fairy-tale like cave dwellings of Cappadocia or journey to the ancient ruins of Troy or check out the exotic bazaars of Istanbul. The good news is that Turkey boasts an excellent network of coaches, which are safe, comfortable and very cheap. Many of the luxury coaches will provide free snack and drinks, and even a 10 hour journey can cost as little as $25.

If you’re trying to save money on that next family vacation then check out Turkey and consider those all-inclusive deals during the low season months for additional savings. This is one country where value-for-money is included in the vacation price.
