So the last two months, we’ve slowly gone through our house and minimized our toys. They add up so quickly don’t they? As a blogger, toys seem to add up even more quickly. I am learning to say no to toy reviews more frequently now – we just have too much stuff. Organizing toys is easy when there isn’t so many of them.
Less is more, right? We got rid of a lot of items, posted them on our local Buy, Sell, Trade Facebook group and made a few hundred dollars. Less toys and more money? That honestly works for me. When organizing toys I asked myself and the kids:
Have you played with these in the last two months?
If the answer was no, we decided it was time to sell or donate. We kept the essentials though. For my three year old boy, the essentials included all of his vehicles. He loves anything with wheels and he has a storage ottoman full of vehicles. He literally plays with them daily on his Prince Lionheart City/Zoo playMat.
ONE MAT. TWO ADVENTURES.
We all love this playMat – my son does not want to put it on the zoo side though. He literally plays with the city side every day with all of his vehicles. When he wakes up, he runs in the living room and asks Daddy, “Do you want to play trucks?” It’s the cutest!
I love that we can fold this mat up at night and put all the cars and trucks in our storage ottoman and our living room is clean. It is simple. The mat is squishy and so comfortable to sit on to play. We’ve had friends come over and play on it with him and they all love it too. It is huge — it takes up a lot of our living room floor space but we don’t mind; he doesn’t have too many other toys. The playMat folds up nicely and even has a carrying bag for travel. My only complaint is that we didn’t have this sooner.
