I always say that parenting is hard stuff. ‘Cause it is. Truly. We all want to raise great kids who’ll become good adults. But, as a Christian parent we also want to raise them knowing who God is; having a relationship with Jesus. We compete with so many things this day and age. Our kids are busier than ever and have many things vying for their attention. What’s a parent to do?

This is why I appreciate this book from Dr. Dobson. I’ve appreciated Dobson’s ministry to families and this book is no different. Through his own story and great practical insight he shares with parents the importance of leaving a true legacy for our kids. The appendices at the end show us practical strategies to leave our children a real legacy.

In my family, my own father consistently talks about the importance of prayer and how it changed his life and as a result my own life and the life of my kids. This legacy of faith in my own family began with grandparents (in both of my parents childhood) — I am so thankful for the power of praying grandparents!
