My Princess was given LEGO Friends last year for Christmas. At that time, she wasn’t quite into LEGO toys yet. But over the course of one year that completely changed. I think it started when she saw the LEGO television shows were available on Netflix. She loves watching LEGO now. Then, a couple months ago, I saw her pull out her LEGO Friends and start putting together amazing creations from a little book. No one had to help her. She didn’t even ask. I was impressed. Now, this Christmas she wants more LEGO toys and not just Friends (the girl toys) but the ones that are considered “boy” LEGO as well.
So each holiday season we do a few things as a family to get ready for Christmas. Those traditions include putting up our tree on Black Friday, a magic Elf, and an Advent Calendar. But, honestly I am always at a loss and unprepared with buying small things to open each day from December 1st -25th for our advent calendar. But, this next year, I know exactly what I will be getting for the kids – a LEGO Advent Calendar. Have you see these? I am excited that I don’t have to keep worrying about new little toys or candy every day. It is all inside the box.
Do you have a Christmas tradition each year in your family?
This year, I found something new for my Princess and I to do in preparation for Christmas:
Yes, this year you can make a custom LEGO Minifigure card for your friends and family! Best of all, it’s free! My Princess and I had such a great time building this holiday card online. We were able to choose how many people to add to our card, what color their “skin” was, their hair color and style, and their clothing as well. Creating this card with my daughter took a bit longer than if I’d done it alone, but it was worth it. We really had fun!
Creating the card was so simple. You just follow the easy instructions. I appreciate this, because when I am creating something with my six year old, I don’t want it to be complicated. The holidays can be stressful, thankfully LEGO makes this fun activity very easy for families.

I don’t know about you, but I like to customize things. This activity was just as fun for me as it was for my Princess. She made all the decisions for our LEGO Minifigures but I did give input. She does want to make another one this holiday season – a LEGO card that will include out extended family. Another fun option is to add your pets if you have them. {We don’t have any yet.}
So would you like to see our completed LEGO Minifigure Christmas Card?
As a family-owned company LEGO Systems is in the business of helping families “build” memories. We actually did this last year (My kids are all LEGO Brick Fans). I let my 8 year old do it and it was fun picking out all the virtual parts together.
Well, I hope they keep doing it. We’ll make another one next year for sure!
