Putting Kids to Work: Simple Toy Organization

I participated in a Blogger Activation on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Stonyfield. I received coupons to facilitate my shopping trip and a promotional item to thank me for participating.
Putting Kids to Work: Simple Toy Organization

This week the kids and I were home alone. I was getting tired of hearing my daughter tell me she was bored. {Do your kids tell you they’re bored? I am sure they do!} So to keep my poor little Princess from being bored – I put her to work. It was time to go through the toys. When we got through our toys we organize and place them into piles: throw away, donate and consign.

My Princess was in charge of organizing her play kitchen and her Barbie mansion. I went through everything to see what could be thrown away, donated or consigned. My Little Man was asked to put all his cars into his blue bucket. Using things you have already in the house to organize is a great idea. We have hot wheels race tracks in a large bin, trucks and cars in the bucket, and miscellaneous toys in a faux leather ottoman.

 {Don’t even ask me what the room looked like that same evening! My kids create messes so easily!}

I was so pleased that after just over an hour we had the toys in our “toy room” organized. Our bags of toys we no longer need are now ready to go to the Goodwill and Consignment Store. The toys that are going to the consignment store are placed in Ziploc gallon sized bags. I like to keep them nice and together so they sell faster. I even like to print out a page that shows the original price (like from Amazon).

Do you consign? We love our local consignment store!

After the kids cleaned with mommy they were both “hungry”. These kids are always hungry! Thankfully, I have a healthy go-to snack option for them that they love! Stonyfield Organic YoKids yogurt pouches are awesome. Both of my kiddos can squeeze them down to nothing in a matter of minutes. I love it because they are organic, made with no HFCS, and no artificial flavors. Quality yogurt that doesn’t need a spoon and neither kid makes a mess with it? Yes, please!

    This looks like a great way to collect all those loose toys that gather around the house! Great to get the kiddos involved in it too!

    We usually donate any old toys that we have laying around the house or pass them onto someone else who can use them.

      I consign any that are in good shape, then use the credit to get the kids clothes (and sometimes more small toys). But some like stuffed animals end up at the Goodwill.

      Yes, I went to another local store and found YoBaby and YoToddler but no YoKids. My six year old was so sad. They really want more. Now! 🙂

    My boys love the fruit pouches here in the UK, too! They would eat them by the truckload if they could!
