Ideas to Keep a Toddler Busy While Homeschooling

March 22, 2014 By LaVonne

Spread the love

Homeschooling my daughter in Kindergarten is difficult with a 21 month old active boy. Most days it is overwhelming. My son wants to be included in school. He disrupts us. He wants to be fed breast milk. He climbs up on his sister’s desk to sit with her. So it is time for a change. I need to be doing something with him at the same time so my Princess and I can more easily focus on our Kindergarten homeschool work. {Praise the Lord for the internet. I needed ideas!} I found six great articles on keeping your toddler busy during homeschool time. You can read them in their entirety here:

  • 5 Tips to Occupy Your Toddler While Homeschooling from Simple Homeschool
  • Keeping the Littles Busy During School Day Pinterest Board
  • Toddler and Preschool Activities During Homeschool from The Marathon Mom
  • 35 Day Plan to Keep Your Toddler Busy While You Homeschool from Philadelphia Homeschool
  • 12 Tips For Keeping Toddlers Busy While Homeschooling from Kelly the Kitchen Kop
  • Occupying Toddlers During School Time from Mama’s Learning Corner

Ideas to Keep a Toddler Busy While Homeschooling From these six articles I’d like to implement the following eight ideas in our homeschooling day:

  1. Pre-planned activities for toddler
  2. Separate working space for toddler
  3. Plastic cups in the sink
  4. Playdough Station
  5. Leapfrog Videos
  6. Legos and Construction Paper Coloring Sorting Station
  7. Put together a school time only bin (with toys and crafts for only school time)
  8. Bingo Marker Activities

If you’ve homeschooled your children, what ways do you keep the little ones busy?

homeschooling Our first class of the day is Bible. My son loves sitting for songs, prayer and the Bible story. We’ve got some great Bible Learning Charts (see on wall above for two examples) and even Bible Crafts that we love for our Kindergarten Bible class.
