Read More Books to the Kids in 2014

January 3, 2014 By LaVonne

Spread the love

read more books

My husband and I both enjoy reading. We want to instill that love of reading in our children. So, though we don’t make New Year’s resolutions per say, we think resolving to read more books to our kids in 2014 is a great goal to set.

So each evening, the television goes off. After dinner is over and the kitchen is cleaned – my Princess has reading time. She either gets a book read to her, or she practices her Kindergarten reading.

My son is still getting easy numbers and shapes board books. His new favorite is a farm book. Both of our children love reading time.

I am thankful that we have some new books this new year provided by Carson-Dellosa. There is a new line of reading and activity books for PreK and Kindergarten about a charming character called the Giant and his friends.

The Giant series uses storytelling to teach children important lessons about friendship, problem solving, and doing the right thing. The activity versions of the books include games and puzzles that support fine-motor and basic skill development. You can check them out on the Carson-Dellosa website here.

Does your family have any great goals for 2014? I’d love to hear about them.

What a great goal! My kids (8 and 10) love to read now. Sometimes a bit too much, since my older son will end up staying up wayyy past his bedtime just to finish a book. I love when we have a lazy weekend afternoon and decide it’s “Reading Time” for everyone.

I can’t wait for that age, Andrew. Really. I remember being like that when I was 8-10. Heck, I am still like that. It is hard for me to put down a good book.
