Last week, I happily received a box of HERSHEY’S Valentine’s Day candy (think Twizzlers, ROLO, Reese’s PB Hearts, and Kisses…) As you can see above my kiddos were just as happy. Of course, starting a healthy living journey last week made it a little more difficult to do my normal over-splurge on chocolate. I was good though – I think I only had four peanut butter hearts all week. {That is really good for me! Those are my kryptonite!}
After getting so many bags of awesome candy, we visited our local Dollar Store. I knew we’d find cute things for my daughter to put together and give to her new friends here in Baton Rouge, including her teacher at church.
We picked up stickers, treat boxes, treat bags, and even some new white cardstock paper all for only $1 each. When you have a 6 year old who loves crafting the Dollar Store is the place to go. I know the internet is full of amazing Valentine’s Day cards and crafts but I like to keep things simple.
My Princess had fun putting HERSHEY’S candy in her boxes and bags. Then she took out her crayons and made her own Valentine’s tags. I told her to write, “You Are Sweet” since it was a candy gift.
I am starting to learn that parenting doesn’t mean doing everything for your child but allowing them to be creative. She loved making Valentine’s cards – and I am happy to give away this candy. {I don’t need the temptation in the house!}
What is your child giving away on Valentine’s Day?
