A Fun Mother’s Day Gift: Parental Guidance Movie

After traveling home from Arkansas this weekend, I was so happy to be in my own bed. To sit on my own couch. It is just a great feeling. In the evening I had my own time. “Me Time” and I was happy to be able to watch a new movie Parental Guidance.

About Parental Guidance

Billy Crystal, Bette Midler and Marisa Tomei prove that laughter is relative in this hilarious comedy that’s fun for the whole family! Old-school grandparents Artie and Diane get more than they bargained for when they get stuck babysitting their type-A daughter’s overprotected kids. But things go from hectic to hysterical when Artie realizes the kids are running the house with their newfangled technology. By playing by his own rules, which include sugary snacks, old fashioned games and tough love, Artie manages to outsmart the kids and achieve the impossible- bring the family closer together!

Not only did I laugh with this movie but it also makes a perfect Mother’s Day gift for that special mom in your life. Sure to please, and filled with so muc humor. All moms will be able to relate to this movie about the family dynamic that occurs when you send you kids to their grandparents. When a movie that is done with Walden Media comes out, I usually want to check it out. The fact that this movie is rated PG is also fabulous. I wish Hollywood would make even more movies that were rated PG. Movies that didn’t contain violence, sex, and bad language. I don’t want to see that, so I am thankful that a funny parenting and family movie like this has come out.

This couple who hasn’t had a vacation in 5 years are leaving the kids with the wife’s parents for the first time. A couple lines that I loved in the movie: when deciding if her parents could watch her kids, and not wanting them to, Alice says, “My mother is a tornado with lipstick.” One the way to watch the kids the grandmother says, “Do you know what grandparenting is? A second chance.”

Watching the evolution from the beginning – soysauges, eggless egg salad, almond milk, no sugar and trying to “communicate” is so humorous and though exaggerated and so relatable.  I mean whose parenting style isn’t different than their parents? But seeing how it all ends, well, it might be obvious what will happen but it is an enjoyable ride on the way. You root for the entire family dynamic by the end.

This sounds like one of those must-watch movies for all ages ^.^ I totally agree though, I’m all for good movies regardless of the rating, but people really need to make more quality family movies like this!

    Great review 🙂
