Breastfeeding at 10 Months and 5 Uses for Lanolin

April 1, 2013 By LaVonne

Spread the love

My Little Man is now 10 months old! It is hard to believe. I am still breastfeeding and now that he has a stronger suck and teeth (gasp!) I am so glad to have Thyme Maternity’s Soothing Therapy Relieve Nipple Ointment.

Do you know what Lanolin is?

This pure lanolin ointment soothes and relieves the discomfort associated with breastfeeding.

uses for lanolin

5 Other Reasons I Love Lanolin

  1. Chapped Lips – Spring arrived and cold weather came. My lips are disgusting. Really. I needed this.
  2. Chapped and Dry Skin – great for gardeners hands this time of year. Also with allergies and sniffly noses, add a bit below your nose for that chaffed area.
  3. Cuticle “Cream” – I went to get a manicure last week and my cuticles were out of hand. I am now going to start using my lanolin on those now too.
  4. Soften feet – I warmed up to the mid 60s one day last week. I wore sandals. My heels needed a little more moisture.
  5. Hair Milk – add moisture to your hair and defrizz by placing a small amount in your palms and rubbing in on hair.

Thyme Maternity offers an amazing Soothing Therapy skin care line for expectant and new mothers at BabysRUs. Not only was I sent the Relieve Nipple Ointment to review but also the Restructuring Gel.

I do love the Soothing Therapy Nipple Ointment ($9 ARV) . Lanolin works great not just for breastfeeding discomfort but really I love all the uses for lanolin. You don’t need a large amount and it blends in nicely. Don’t get too much on your finger – a pea sized amount or less of lanolin is fine for most jobs. My lips don’t need that much – 1/2 a pea sized is adequate. The scent is mild and natural smelling – since it comes from sheep glands, woolly sheep is what it reminds me of. You won’t be turned off by the scent, I am sure.

I used this behind my son’s ears this week since they tend to get dry. I also am having my husband use this on his dry skin. Nothing has worked from the doctor or dermatologist so I am hoping that lanolin will help his dry skin.

restructuring gel

I have been using the Restructuring Gel ($15 ARV) for a week now.  This gel goes a long way. I have been using it not only on my stomach, hips, and thighs but also my arms. It smells great and applies well for a gel. {Don’t use too much!} Also,  it dries quickly. The ingredients in this gel are impressive and I really appreciate that the packaging is biodegradable. I don’t know if it is helping my skin elasticity or not at this point but I do like using it.  Since the ingredients have been shown to improve skin I am using this in conjunction with exercise.
