I get stressed out easily. I am working on it. It is a slow process. Stressed-Less Living by Tracie Miles is a timely book. With the New Year upon us (wow! how quickly time flies) and many of us wanting to improve our lives with real resolutions, I think that Stressed-less Living is vital for today.
About Stressed-less Living
Stress has become a universal epidemic waging war against the hearts of women and men everywhere. Women who wake up every morning to face the stressors in their lives, while feeling inadequate and unequipped to do so. As a result, millions of people are desperately searching for a simple miracle to cure their stress; yet what they really need is the miracle of a changed heart, a renewed perspective on life, and a re-energized faith. Stressed-Less Living offers life-changing, heart-renewing, long-lasting remedies that will bring peace, even when things feel out of control. Life is tense and offers no easy answers or quick fixes. The good news is that in a world of unrest and stress readers can find the peace for which they hunger; peace amidst all of their less-than-peaceful situations.
Tracie Miles, in this breakthrough book, helps women unload the pressure cooker of life and learn to rely on the peace that Christ promises all those who come to Him. Tracie maintains that the direction many women receive today is attached to temporary helps like meditation, relaxation strategies, breathing exercises, and support groups. Stressed-Less Living unpacks the truth found in Scripture about how to overcome fear, anxiety, and uncertainty, and shows the stressed-out woman how she can not only survive stress, but thrive in spite of it through faith in the promises of God. If you are tired of feeling frazzled, frustrated, fatigued, overwhelmed, over-committed and overloaded — then this book is just for you.

My Review of Stressed-less Living
I don’t know about you but I need to stress less in 2013. Having two kids, traveling on the road much of the year, and just dealing with life is stressful. It is what I do with those natural stressors that I need help with. This book is so relevant and needed right now. At least in my life.
This book not only shares how stress is a problem in our life but gives us ways to deal with it. I like how Miles says, “We can find peace and joy by learning to control our stress instead of letting it control us.” This is what I do want. Learning ways to control the stress. This book offers reflection questions and gives stress busting scriptures at the end of each chapter. I really appreciate that.
I also appreciated how Miles connects our life and stress with child rearing. We should not check out when parenting gets difficult, but we should pray. She quotes James 1:12 which I think is important as a parent to learn, “Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.”
Living with less stress means we need to be ready to change. We need to be fully surrendered to Christ and allow him to be Lord of all the aspects of our life, and that is not always easy. Being prepared, facing our problems, and staying connected with God through his Word and prayer are all essential in the fight against stress. I am thankful for Stressed Less Living by Tracie Miles.
