As we are getting ready for baby number 2, we are washing all the baby gear, putting together the co-sleeper, putting new batteries in the swing and bouncer… so many things to remember. The next thing on my list is packing the labor bag. After visiting numerous sites, I wrote down all the things I need when packing the labor bag. I have two lists – things I need and things I want to bring to the hospital.
Labor Bag Essentials:
- Breastfeeding Gown
- Slippers/Socks
- Bathrobe
- Nursing Bra/Nursing Pads
- Underwear
- Pads
- Toiletries
- Camera
- Going Home Outfit for mommy and baby
- Diaper Bag
- Baby Blanket
- Car Seat
Labor Bag Extras:
- Water Bottle
- Suckers
- Snacks
- Note Pad or Journal
- Flip Flops
- Box of Chocolates for Nurses Station
I made a Google Doc entitled Labor Bag Check List that you can access for free. This is a great printable that ย you can check off so you don’t forget anything when packing the labor bag. You can find that Google Doc here.
What other items do you think I may have forgotten? I want to be very prepared this time!
When I had my daughter, I had no idea what to pack for the hospital. This is very helpful for expectant moms.
Thank you Kelly. I hope I don’t forget anything I really need or want ๐
Great idea and love that you have a printable list – easy to check and make sure everything is prepared and ready!
Yes, I printed it, and have most of it checked off. Still need to grab a few more things (like suckers and snacks). LOL!
I’ve been planning on putting together a post like this too – I remember when I was pregnant, I had no CLUE what to pack!!! Great tips ๐
I am currently working on a similar post. But I am having a c-section. I heave learned after doing this twice already as to what I need, and what I don’t!
The hospital I go to supplies me with pads, a huge water bottle, lots of snacks, (I found out, all I have to do is to ask them, and they will bring it, no matter what time, day or night!)
I am taking my laptop, laptop desk, a few dvd movies, as watching regular TV channels in July is so boring, and of course my camera! My husband will be home with his mom taking care of our two kids, so he won’t have much time to spend at the hospital with me except in the middle of the day, around 1pm to about 3:30pm when our almost 3 year old daughter will be napping. So I will be alone, a lot. For me, it’s more like a vacation!
Heather, I am so glad you mentioned this. My first birth was not at the hospital, so I am not sure what to expect. But I think I will bring the iPad and laptop too! ๐ Thanks for these tips.
With Baby #2, I packed my Tucks pads early! LIFESAVERS! ๐
This is a good list!
I’m just about to get married and in my early twenties, so children are at least a few years away for me. That being said, I’m going to copy this list and save it for future reference… seriously. My mom had five children, so she’s a know-it-all… it’ll be nice to be able to politely say “I already knew that, mom” when the time comes ๐
It is always nice to be able to say that to mom ๐ Thanks for coming by, Scarlett, and your nice words! Happy Memorial Day Weekend ๐
This is actually one of the hardest things we can do in terms of packing.. We are packing not to travel but for hospital things..
