What a fun day to spend with family. After our exciting day the Audubon Zoo, we took one more day to visit the Audubon Aquarium and Insectarium.
Deciding which lot to park, took a bit of time. The Aquarium validates one lot, and we wanted to find that lot. {Isn’t it stressful when you don’t know where you are going?}
Our Princess loved the aquarium – I think even more than the zoo. With so many sea creatures to watch and learn about, we were thankful that God created such beautiful things for us to see.
Once at the Insectarium, (which was few blocks away), I pretty much stayed to myself. I didn’t peek too closely at the exhibits. {I am terrified of bugs!}
In one underground exhibit, a pretend spider jumps out at you. I heard my Princess scream {as I sat and waited patiently outside the exhibit}. Then, after the initial scare, she went back in two more times to get “scared’ some more.
A 4D 10 minute film was the highlight – as our chairs bounced, air blew on our face, and water misted on us – we laughed and clapped all the way through the feature.
Towards the end of the day we visited the Bug Appetite exhibit where they cook bugs into recipes like Chocolate Chip Cricket Cookies, Pancakes, Spreads and Dips – all for you to try.
Do you think I tried anything?
Nope!
But guess who did?
Not not my Princes, but my brave hubby tried cricket chocolate chip cookies.
A worker was spraying water into the large bug houses and pulled out this stick bug for my Princess to see more closely.
No fear this girl! She petted it, and tried to hold it on her own.
YUCK!
