album and I really enjoyed his style of music and songs. When the opportunity arose to review his newest album Young Love
, I was happy to hear what he has done recently.
I enjoy the fun upbeat first song, Hey Mama, written for his new wife. His way of blending folk, hip-hop and pop is so unique. I loved Mat Kearney’s style from Nothing Left to Lose and I still love it.
When the songs slow down at Learning to Love Again, it is perfect timing – “Hey brother, we’re all learning to love again…” – such a beautiful song. The song Down has strong Christian undertones and I think it might just be my favorite on the album -“Baby when all you see is darkness/ We all need forgiveness…you hear when we call/There when we fall/Standing our backs against the wall…” – this song is so great.
I think you guys will really love Mat Kearney’s new album. Full of soulful lyrics and a mix of music styles, it is sure to please a large crowd who wants something more than Top 40 radio.
