When I got The Blessing sent to me for review purposes from Book Sneeze, I was excited. I love parenting books, and boy what a great parenting book this is! Based on the publisher’s synopsis, I knew this book would be able to help in my own parenting style. {Parenting a toddler is HARD most days!}
Guess who grabbed the book and read it first? Yep, my husband. He loved it so much and started implementing the things he was learning right from the start. {I have an amazing husband!} I could tell from the first few chapters that this book would revolutionize our parenting style.
This book is amazing. It gives you a fresh look at Biblical parenting. This is one book you will read over and over. The premise is simple: every human needs the gift of “the blessing”. This is the unconditional love and approval that comes for one’s parents.
The Blessing, written more than 20 years ago (now updated), is based on the Biblical story of Jacob and Esau found in Genesis 27. Based on this story,
The Blessing powerfully communicates biblical truths on how to instill self-worth and emotional well-being into others based on these five essential elements: meaningful touch, a spoken message, attaching high value, picturing a special future, and an active commitment.
The approval of parents is important to everyone. This book also includes what happens when you don’t get that approval. It provides help to those who may not have received this unconditional love – this blessing.
I highly recommend this book for parents of children of all ages. It is a great updated Christian parenting book.
