Canoe Journey: Our Tribe is Hosting this Year!

July 25, 2011 By LaVonne

Spread the love
Last year we enjoyed the annual Canoe Journey; though camping for over a week with a toddler was a little crazy. This year is a much shorter canoe pull for our family canoe – the Salmon Dancer. 4 days of travelling on the Salish Sea is doable. {Well, I was not paddling just driving A LOT.} Each night we came home, since we were close enough. So no camping for us this year. {Which is fine with me.} Our tribe is hosting this year, so we are gearing up for a crazy busy week.
Road closures…
Traffic…
Thousands of people on our tiny reservation…
It is exciting and overwhelming! Come back for upcoming photos and tales…
The NY Times did a slide show last night of this year’s Canoe Journey.
Check it out!
