The other title was going to be “A Poop Story”, but I decided that might be a little too yucky sounding. But this is what it is.
We arrived at the airport in Ontario, CA on Sunday. 14 of us flew down for my aunt’s funeral. We did not have a hotel reserved yet. {Yes, this is how my family operates, and it does drive me crazy.}
So when three of the men went over to get the two Suburbans, I was put in charge of searching the internet for decent housing accomodations.
Our tribe owns a Ramada in Ocean Shores, WA so that was one of the first websites I went to. We get an ownership discount. And what do you know? I found one that was 8 miles from the city where my aunt’s funereal would be–and it met all three criteria that we decided on {continental breakfast, pool, and fitness center}.
I was a rock star for like 1 day. I found the “perfect spot”. And it was under $100 per night!
Then, everyone realized that this Ramada was not so hot.
The fitness room? Not open. It was under construction.
The pool? They did not heat it. It was an ice cube in there.
The continental breakfast? Only 2 per room could eat from it for free and it was the saddest continental breakfast you ever saw.
So to top it off, the first day when we arrived it was almost 90 degrees, which is very hot to us Washingtonians and we went into the pool for 30 minutes. {I could not get in, it was way too cold!}
After 10 minutes, my Princess jumped out frantically telling me she had to go poop. We ran to the elevator–we were on the 3rd floor. But by the time we got in she was holding the bottom of her swimsuit away from her skin. Yep, she pooped in her swimsuit!
At least it was not in the pool. {I didn’t want to be that mom again!} But as poopy pool water dripped all the way to the room, and then as I put her in tub to clean her swimsuit and skin off, I was not the happiest mommy.
My rock star status was slowly dropping as the day wore on!
These are the things that we will remember forever right? Family trips that don’t go perfectly. We are blessed in spite of it all and I am thankful.
