Budgeting Your Time

April 5, 2011 By LaVonne

Are you like me? Do you have terrible time management skills?
Here are some time management tips I have read that have helped me:
  1. Set Goals
  2. Prioritize
  3. Schedule

In trying to teach my toddler discipline, I realize I need a good dose of it myself. {Isn’t it funny how kids can really put your own life into perspective?} Good time management skills takes practice. It takes work. I am committed to be better disciplined with my time. There are things that I want done in my personal life and in my home.

For example, I want to organize the bins in the garage. Most of the stuff is in bins but I really need to go through those bins. To actually do it, I need to schedule a time. Set aside an afternoon to JUST DO IT.
Another example, I want to have a good devotional time each morning. I find myself using my computer and the internet more and more. As a result, finding a good online devotional has been important. Here are a few resources I use now:
  • Proverbs 31 Ministries
  • Every Word
  • Bible Gateway

One final example, is exercise. Losing weight is important to me! I want to make time each day for it. Since we have been in Northern British Columbia I have had the opportunity to use a bike and treadmill. Other than being sick for a good number of days, I have been trying to stay faithful to burning those calories. And guess what? I have lost 4 lbs! Yay!

How do you stay on track? Do you have a schedule? Do you use an online calendar? Your smart phone?

For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven. Ecclesiastes 3: 1
