Pistachio Rationing

We brought a good bit of cash to use up here in Canadian. Canadian dollars to be exact. We knew if we used our debit or credit card here, we’d pay a small fee.

We didn’t bring enough. We have already gone through almost half and we are not halfway through our time here. Do you know what we have spent it on?

Gas and food.

Not eating out either. Just groceries. Regular groceries.

But everything is quite expensive here.

One local grocery store had a great bulk section. The prices appear to be great. We wanted some pistachios. Not knowing how much $3.49 per 100g meant we filled a bag. The price for two bags of groceries was almost $60 Canadian dollars! I looked at the receipt.

That small bag of pistachios was $9.42!

I am dolling those pistachios out ten per day. They will last until we leave!

Then on that same bulk aisle I saw small bags of chips 4 for $1.60 in crazy flavors I had never tried: ketchup and creamy dill.

My Princess wouldn’t even try them. (She is funny like that.)

The Verdict?

Ketchup was NASTY but creamy dill tasted pretty good. Plus, creamy dill was baked and quite low calorie for a snack food. I will NOT be buying Ketchup potato chips again.

So what about the gas you ask? We paid $1.24 per liter at the local gas station here. That is over $5 per gallon! {They are on the imperial gallon, which I know nothing about, but trust me, it is over $5 USD per gallon.}

Wow!
