Can I share with you a peek into our crazy conversations?
The Princess has become a little obsessed with bugs, since we found a spider in our spare room.
Now she is wondering if there are bugs everywhere in the house. Looking for them, running away if she thinks she sees them, becoming scared about them even. I wish she would not be scared of them, since I am terrified of them. I had grand ideas about her killing bugs for me when her daddy is not home.
So last night, she ran to me with her glass of soymilk and told me that there was an ant inside. (We have seen a few small black ants near the living room window.)
“I saw him crawling in my cup, mommy!” She forcefully told me.
So I got a clear glass and slowly poured the soymilk into it. Sure enough, no ant. So I mistakenly told her that maybe she drank him. Oh boy! That conversation lasted for at least 3o minutes.
Where was the ant?
We have to find him!
Can he get all the way to my toe?
Let’s open my tummy!
How will he get out?
So I finally told her that he probably just fell off her cup when we were walking to the kitchen and he got away. That would have been a better explanation to use right away!
That led to her scouring the floor for the ant (which I didn’t think existed at all by the way). She found a small half squished little bug on the floor in the corner. It had wings but was so small I could not tell what it was. She said it was the ant. I got a tissue, picked it up and brought him to the bathroom where I put him in the toilet. As I flushed the toilet, my Princess said,
“Goodbye.”
Which led to another long conversation about where the ant went when I flushed it. Maybe he can swim, mommy…
Can I have some adult conversations, PLEASE!?!
