The seminar started this week and I could feel us start to slack in our school time. We didn’t spend as much time as I wanted to for school. So this new week we will be getting back into the routine we began.
We did get some new books at the library. We went over the regular things: shapes, colors, numbers, and alphabet. But, I also wanted to incorporate a few new things:
I wanted to introduce her to the concept of Seasons. This book was perfect. After we read this the first time on Monday, she watched a TV show that talked about Spring. I reminded her that we just learned about this in the book.
I also thought it would be nice for her to “learn” a few more social skills. A few websites I read about Preschool Homeschool recommended working more on social development than merely ABCs and 123s. So the book The Child’s World of Manners was right up my alley.
One final thing we concentrated on this week was the color red. It is the color she is having the most difficulty remembering. She consistently calls it pink. So we have been reading this book:
Something exciting happened today for our little homeschool. We got a USPS package from Grandma. It contained some Hinkler educational flash cards. They are so cool because they contain a pen that is wipe off. No more printing alphabet sheets, my Princess can practice right on the flash card.
While my husband and I were on our laptops, she was working on her flash cards this evening. We are so proud of her, she just got them and this was what she did:
I am so proud of her! When we started three weeks ago, I wasn’t sure if she was old enough to practice her letters and numbers. Boy, was I wrong. In three weeks she has surpassed what I thought she would do. I think she is brilliant! Thank you, Lord for the ability to learn and grow!
