Sleeping Alone

August 25, 2010 By LaVonne

Spread the love

Did not last very long.

We bought two folding takealong mattress pads (about twin size) from Costco for our big Canoe Journey this summer. I got a brilliant idea of putting one on the floor beside our bed for our Princess to sleep on at night.

Yes, I am tired of co-sleeping with this child!

For four nights she slept on the floor at the foot of our queen sized bed. Each of those nights she woke up at least 3 times, crying for us (or me, I should clarify).

The fourth night, I let the hubby lay down with her and get up with her. He did not like it. He wants her in her own room not on our floor.

But the problem is, she is terrified of her own room. She keeps saying, “People are going to get me.” I have no idea where that came from, but when I asked her who, she said she didn’t know. So, I have let her sleep in our bed again.

Oh, my oh my. This parenting business is a lot harder than anyone tells you. I know I should be able to just put her in her own room. Let her cry and get her used to it. But it just breaks my heart.

“Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne?” Isaiah 49: 15 (NIV)
