Affectionate Child

May 3, 2010 By LaVonne

Spread the love

It is so cute to watch my Princess interact with the other children at our current seminar in Oklahoma. The pastor’s wife is the teacher, and she is also a 2nd grade teacher in the local school district. The kids are doing well during the story and craft time, and surprisingly my Princess is not doing too bad either. For only 2 years old, she really is beginning to sit still, be quiet and listen. That is promising.

She has found two new friends. The pastor here has a 5 year old boy and a 2 year old girl. The girl is only 2 months older than the Princess, but despite the close age, my Princess really likes the 5 year old boy. I have noticed that she enjoys the company of older children. They tend to be more tolerant and patient with her. So it is now very common to see my Princess hugging the boy, so much so, that she knocks him over! He doesn’t mind a bit, in fact he seems to enjoy it. A common question now that she continually asks (20+ times a day) when we leave her friends is, “My friends go?” (Interpretation: Where did my friends go?”). I have resorted to making things up when she asks this. For example, I will say, “Oh, they went on a spaceship to the moon.” Which she replies, “The moon, mama?” It is too funny.

When she sat for the story time the other night, the pastor’s son and another boy fought to see who could sit by her! Oh no. Boy troubles already. As us mothers sat in the back we just smiled watching them figure out who won.

Now, if we can just get through this seminar without getting sick. We both woke up with a little cough last night. Please Lord, don’t let us get sick this seminar.
