So a week and a half ago we noticed a rash on the Princess’ back. We thought it might be a heat rash or a contact rash. (It was pretty hot in Paris, especially on the Subway and we had to wash laundry in Nottingham in regular detergent.) After the weekend ended, the rash did not appear to be going away. We decided to take her to a pediatrician who told us not to worry. He said that almost all children get rashes and they are not serious. She never had a fever so we have not worried too much. He did say since it was not accompanied by a fever it might be a form of rosea that will last up to 8 week. Eight weeks! This form is unsightly and itches, which is now the case with our Princess. He recommended that we let the virus run its course, give oatmeal baths, and use 1% Hydrocortisone cream.
I did call our own pediatrician when we arrived back home on Friday. She said maybe we should bring her in on Monday if it doesn’t go away. Tomorrow is Monday and the rash is still here. It does look better on her back and lower stomach (where it began), but her arms and legs are still affected. I really would like this rash to go away. She is scratching at night, which isn’t helping with her sleep (or mine!) and it just doesn’t look good. Luckily, online information seems to indicate it is not contagious. That is good news. So please pray for our Princess. I would really appreciate all the help I can get!
