Good Girl Or Not?

We laughed today about Isabella’s home personality and her public personality. Whenever we are out in public whether it be church, shopping, or visiting family and friends she is a delight. Everyone comments on what a happy baby she is. She almost never cries in public. Her whining and crying is reserved for home. I suppose I don’t mind everyone thinking she is the best behaved baby in the world.

Friday, Isabella stood up by herself in the center of the room! She had been letting go while she was standing up against things, but she had not yet stood up from a sitting position all by herself. It was so exciting and she had a big grin on her face. Then when we laughed and clapped she got very excited too. Now she is trying to stand up all the time. I have to really watch her, because I don’t want her to get hurt.

Also this last week I was able to pick her up while she was sleeping, carry her around, and lay her down without her waking up. This might not be anything for most moms, but for me, it felt like success. She has been such a light sleeper, I feel like this is a sign that better sleep habits are coming.

One more thing I haven’t mentioned is that Isabella loves popcorn. My husband and I eat popcorn pretty regularly at night so I shouldn’t be surprised that she wants it too. I have been giving her tiny little “safe” pieces (no hard kernel things that get stuck in teeth and in the back of throats) and she picks them up and eats them very fast. I think they dissolve quickly.

If I am not fast enough she will yell too! I don’t know when to try to curb that behavior. Anytime I say no firmly or try to correct her she thinks it is funny. (Like today, with her mouth full of Gerber Organic 2nd foods, she starts sucking on her highchair fabric. When I say, “Hey! no no, she laughed and kept doing it. It became a game.)

I don’t know? I sometimes think I am spoiling her. Is that possible to do at nine months? I am not sure. I like to read the Mom 101 blog. Her heading is: I don’t know what I am doing either. Yep, that’s about right.
