I don’t think that some people realize how lucky they are to have grandparents living nearby. This long holiday weekend we have had the luxury of having my parents here. It has been heaven. They help so much with Isabella, and they love playing with her.
We love her so much but it is so nice to have others here to hold her, play with her, pick her up, wash her, change her, feed her, walk with her…. and so much more. And she loves it too.
My parents came down for Labor Day weekend, and we had them come earlier so they could come to Yosemite National Park with my husband’s work. I am glad they came, because the 4+ hour drive was crazy. Taking an 8 month old for a two night trip to Yosemite is a little crazy but with four adults we took turns playing with her on the way there.
It was very beautiful weather and we enjoyed seeing all the majestic creations of God. {My husband likes to say that Yosemite is a dump compared to the beauty of the earth made new.} On Thursday we all went to Glacier Point to take group pictures and while we were looking at Half Dome and the valley floor in awe, Isabella was happily smiling at two dogs. The view meant nothing to her, but she loves dogs.
After Glacier Point we spent the afternoon at Wawona in the water. Oh, did she love the water. She is a water baby, much to my husband’s delight. (He is an avid surfer.) Grandpa and Grandma were very happy to play with her in the water.
Isabella has mastered “dada” now too. She loves saying it. We are not quite sure yet if she understands the connection between “dada” and her daddy, but we are happy to hear it just the same. We always joke that her first “real” word is going to be DJ, she loves our dog so much.
Today, we filled up a small baby pool with a couple inches of water on our back deck. Isabella and Grandpa crawled around it and played with cups (her favorite water toys) for about 45 minutes in the 97 degree heat. Even the small things like playing in the pool are memorable. What fun to have a baby in the home! God really has blessed us with a happy baby girl. We are thankful every day.
