Indoor Fun During the Flu

March 4, 2013 By LaVonne

Spread the love

We have been battling the stomach bug in our home. Which has not been fun, since we are in such a great location here at the beach. My husband is the latest family member to catch this stomach flu. It has not been fun to parent and keep house single. I have said this before and I will continue to say it:

Single moms are amazing! They have my utmost respect.

This is hard work. Taking care of the kids and the house. I will freely admit there are dirty dishes in my sink right now. It is hard to keep up with it all when your husband is in bed sick for 3 days.

So we have been getting creative with our indoor fun activities during this flu. We have been watercolor painting, reading books, watching DVDs, coloring, putting together puzzles, doing homeschool online, and cleaning as a family activity.

I am thankful for a new DVD that arrived in the mail this last week. Veggie Tales latest installment, Veggie Tales: The Little House That Stood, is a perfect blend of nursery rhyme and Bible parable that is fun for kids and adults both. Based on the 3 Little Pigs story, The Little House That Stood seamlessly blends the parable of the Wise Man Who Builds His House on the Rock. This story teaches children (and adults) the importance of building our lives of Jesus. I loved it and so did my 5 year old Princess. With fun current culture references and age appropriate humor, Veggie Tales has done it again! They have created a great family entertainment cartoon that is full of laughter and faith.

A plus? Veggie Tales is also offering free coloring pages! Coloring is another great thing we can do indoors during the flu.

I cannot even imagine how tired you must be with the stomach bug going through your house. Poor guy! Especially considering when a woman gets sick, she still finds a way to be Super Woman, but when a man gets sick, most of the time it is the worst plague to ever hit mankind! Good luck!

Right? He was literally in bed for 5 days! It was rough! I could never recover for 5 days! It was frustrating. But thankfully it looks like today he is on the mend an he ate well.

Ahh, I remember when I was a little girl. I was sick all the time and at one point I nearly died but one thing that always helped pass the time was kids shows on television. My favorite was Captain Kangaroo. I know I’m showing my age here but it was a fun show, very entertaining. I also enjoyed reading books. By the way, Veggie Tales was a much loved show when my kids were little. 😀
