10 Items Food Banks Need

December 4, 2012 By LaVonne

Spread the love

How many of you have heard of the brand Unilever? Back in 2008, when I started couponing, I became very familiar with this brand their line of fabulous products. Unilever is committed to donating more than two million meals to families in need with Feeding America and every item on your shopping list counts. Show your support by adding Unilever brands to your cart next time you shop. Together we can help to Cross Off Hunger.

About Feeding America:

Feeding America is the nation’s leading domestic hunger-relief charity. Its mission is “to feed America’s hungry through a nationwide network of member food banks and engage our country in the fight to end hunger.”

Cross Off Hunger:

This time of year when families like mine are shopping for holiday presents, 1 in 6 Americans does not know where they will find their next meal! That is a staggering number.  That is why Unilever has teamed up with Feeding America to help feed hungry families here in the United States as part of their Sustainable Living Plan. {Two billion times a day, someone, somewhere uses a Unilever brand. The Unilever vision is to create a better future every day by making brands that help people live sustainably, while reducing their impact on the environment.}

Working together with Feeding America and asking for you support, Unilever believes that the impact will be that much greater. Take the first step to help Cross Off Hunger! Small actions like purchasing Unilever products or donating to your local food banks really make a big difference.

This holiday season we have donated for Thanksgiving food baskets while we were in Indiana last month. But our small town here in Washington actually has a food bank. I see the donation bin at our local grocery store every time I am there. This holiday season, I am going to purchase some great Unilever products and donate them to our local food bank. I personally love Bertolli, Dove, Best Foods, Knorr, Vaseline, Suave, and Q-Tips. {Yes, all those brands are part of the Unilever family!} So stay tuned for another post about what we purchased for our local food bank!

Helping local families in need is important, and this is the kind of thing that I want to teach my children to do as well.

    Good reminder! I know that food banks need attention all year long, but when they get busy during the holidays it is especially important to be in tune with what they need so it can be put to good use. 🙂

    I’m pretty sure we have some extras of these items just sitting in our cabinets and closets. I think we need to make a donation soon!

    I love this mission and think it is so important we teach our children to give. We try to take something in to our local bank once a month. It is a great way to get the children involved in giving!

    We love buying an extra non-perishable while we do our grocery shopping to drop off in those bins. The kids love picking out what they want to donate.
