This last week the weather was cooperative here in Iowa and we decided to head out for some tourist activities. We went down to the Mississippi River and visited the National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium. When we arrived, I was surprised by how much it cost. It was more than I expected to pay, but we realized that this would be a one time visit and decided to pay the $21 for an adult ticket and $19 for a children's ticket. Our fee included entrance into both museums on the river and … [Read more...]
Winter Weather
We are in a new state. We left New Orleans, and 70+ degree weather and headed to Iowa. Wow! What a big weather difference. When it is 7 degrees with the wind chill - that is cold. The last couple days have been warm here though - above 30 degrees. When the wind dies down that has begun to feel much warmer. While we were in New Orleans, my Princess made the comment that it didn't feel like winter. We told her not to worry because we'd get 'winter' in Iowa during the month of February. So imagine … [Read more...]
Goodbye Sioux City
sourceWe have settled into our new home on Lake Okoboji. How can I even explain its beauty? I mean, how blessed am I to be staying in a vacation home on a beautiful lake in Iowa? Riverfront Park

It is near the Flight 232 Memorial. We love parks; they really work for our family. Plus, you can’t beat free entertainment! … [Read more...]
Field Trip to the County Fair
This week is the big county fair and one of the churches we are working with here in Iowa has a booth under the grandstand. They are doing Health Screenings – blood pressure, BMI, and real age calculator. On Monday my husband worked at the booth. It was Veteran’s appreciation day so he even got in for free! Of course, the Princess and I took advantage of his work schedule and turned this outing into a field trip. I knew she would want to ride the amusement park rides, but I decided this was … [Read more...]
Iowa, Here We Come
We will be working in the great state of Iowa for the next two months. My awesome husband loaded up our Toyota Sienna with all the essentials and drove the 3 day trip alone. On the way out there he took some fabulous pictures. These make me jealous of course. I wish I could have made the drive with him. But driving from the great state of Washington to the state of Iowa does not sound fun with a toddler. Not when you can fly in just a few hours. And yes, the two flights we had to take … [Read more...]
