Meal Planning Made Easy

Thank you to McCain Foods for sponsoring today’s post.

meal planning

Do you meal plan? While we are at home in Washington we don’t meal plan very well. Our life is busy and we just don’t eat meals at home as often as I’d like. But when we are traveling on the road for my husband’s job, 8 months out of the year, we meal plan. We are only in one location for about 5 weeks and we plan each week what meals we want to eat and make grocery lists based on those meals. This way, we don’t have a lot of extra food to toss when we leave. It also helps us save money while traveling and eat less process junk.

Here is our meal plan for this week:

Monday:

  • Ravioli and Steamed Broccoli
  • Cream of Broccoli soup with whole wheat toast

Tuesday:

  • Vegetarian Burgers with French Fries
  • Penne Pasta with Zucchini

Wednesday:

  • Pizza and Salad
  • Bean Burritos with Chips and Guacamole

Thursday:

  • Cream of Broccoli Soup with Salad
  • Bow Tie Pasta with Alfredo and Salmon and Peas

Friday:

  • Vegetarian Burgers with Chips and Hummus
  • Ravioli and Broccoli

What is on your meal plan this week?

It is a money saver and a time saver. It is nice to look at our list on the fridge and know what we are eating. Plus, my husband pitches in more at meal time when I have it planned out.

Thanks Cindy. It is hard to please a family of four. We try to keep it simple here.

I really need to start making a menu plan. I always have good intentions then don’t follow through. I like yours. It looks yummy.

Thank you. The 5 year old and 1 year old like these options. As long as they are happy to eat it…

I don’t plan my meals (I live alone) but I do try to think about what I will eat when I am in the grocery store–It seems to work for me.

I have to start a menu plan. Winging it just isn’t working for me and I know I’m spending money on things that end up spoiling or sitting on the shelf or in the freezer for too long. I need to try a few of these ideas!

I need to plan meals better. I usually get to time to cook and have no idea what to make. So frustrating when I have so much to do.
