21 Summer Activities and Foods

July 29, 2013 By LaVonne

Spread the love

This post brought to you by Dollar General. All opinions are 100% mine.

Can you believe that July is almost over? Summer is flying by! Does your family have anything planned for the rest of the summer? We are currently on an annual Canoe Journey. I am actually typing this post in a tent! The amazing wonders of internet technology right? We still have a couple things planned for the month of August though so stay tuned!

If you need some inspiration for summer, Dollar General has you covered. In fact, they have a list of 21 things to do this summer and foods you must eat. Here are 10 of my favorite activities and foods they recommend:

  1. Pick fruit at a local farm
  2. Pick wildflowers
  3. Spend the day at the waterpark
  4. See a drive in movie
  5. Make s’mores
  6. Stargaze
  7. Host a cookout
  8. Go camping
  9. Read a novel
  10. Watch a sunset

What things are you still wanting to do this summer with your family?

Don’t forget to get your Summer supplies at Dollar General. Dollar General has some of your favorite brands at great prices. You will find brands like Amerigas®, Kraft®, and Pace® at affordable prices. These brands can make your summer activities and cookouts spectacular!

Our family loves having a BBQ and ending the evening with S’mores. My sister is getting creative with her s’mores buy trying different chocolate candy options. We have also been enjoying swimming this summer as well as playing on our back deck in the sunshine. Being outside is my kids favorite place to be and in Washington state we take advantage of summer weather.

Summer: please slow down! I want to enjoy your even longer this year!

Having quick and easy meals during the summer is so vital! I love your activity list, so many are simple but great ways to teach your kids.

I agree, Amanda. The days are chock full of activities for us, and I just don’t have time to cook big meals. Plus with heat, we like easy and light things.

#1 is something we really want to do with our kids. We always seem to miss strawberry season. Maybe next year? Great ideas.

We still have a strawberry season left here in Washington. We need to do this still! Soon, they will be gone. We also have a lot of black berries (wild) to pick in the next couple weeks. We freeze it for summer 🙂

These are all great ideas – I love making S’mores on the beach. 🙂

I love these ideas! The one that stuck out to me most was reading a novel. I never have time to read anymore, and though it wouldn’t exactly be a family activity, it’s something I definitely plan to do before summer is over. 🙂

I want to read a novel too 🙂 I never have enough time to read anymore. Life gets so full with two kids.

What fun ideas! We want to hit the beach a few more times and get ice cream at the local ice cream place.

I have done almost all of those things, but it would take a lot to get me to a water park! The one big thing I haven’t done- read a novel. I must squeeze that one in. Great list!

Great ideas! I can’t believe we are already into August, where has the summer gone? I’d love to go to the drive-in, I can’t remember the last time I went to one!
