The Common Cold vs. the Flu

I have a cold.
First my Princess had it and I tried so desperately not to catch it.
But since I am pregnant my immune system is not 100% – and sure enough I caught it.
My husband has been taking Emergen C twice daily and he has not caught it.
{I can’t take Emergen C.}
My friend took echinacea and she is doing better.
{I can’t take echinacea.}
Instead, I am behind on homeschool, reading, cleaning, cooking, blogging, emails….
because I have a cold.
Thankfully, no fever. Not a flu.
Just coughing, congestion, and sore throat. (*JUST*)
Oh yeah, and I can’t seem to quit throwing up. (So the morning sickness is still here.)
I recently read an article that said women with morning sickness who throw up have a less likely chance of having a miscarriage. (That is great news, I think!)
Also, morning sickness is nature’s way of protecting the fetus from food borne illness. The article and my book, What to Expect When Your Expecting, also suggests bland foods in smaller amounts more frequently and no drinking during eating. I have been doing this and the all day nausea has improved. The throwing up is not fun but it comes suddenly and then I do feel a bit better for awhile.
I keep praying to God (all day long) to help me through this. I am in my 10th week, and my biggest prayer is that this will only be for my first trimester. (I miss eating food and functioning normally!) But I am thankful as well. Many women try very hard, without success, to get pregnant; and many women also have many miscarriages in an attempt to have a child. I got pregnant exactly when I wanted to and I know I am blessed!

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made!
