mother quote

What is your family doing for Mother’s Day?

Our family is starting our celebration early with a four generation ladies tea on Friday. I am quite excited. Then on Sunday we are going to have brunch. We are still debating if we will go to a local restaurant favorite or if we will have the men make us a vegan breakfast burrito bar. Hmm… what do you think?

Regradless of what we do, I don’t want to worry one bit about this blog, the internet or social media. MetLife get that. Which is why they have started the #SocialBlackout Day this Mother’s Day 2013.

When I was growing up I played outside. I didn’t have digital media, iPods, iPads, smart phones, Netflix, and so much more that my kids have access too. Life seemed so simple. Right?  Now, we are all so hooked on our gadgets that it seems like we cannot live without them.  That is why MetLife had the idea of a day fully devoted to mom:

socialblackout day

Join the Mother’s Day movement every mom will be proud of: #SocialBlackout. It’s simple. In fact, it may be the easiest event you’ve ever attended. Just don’t show up.

Because mom has always been so attentive with us, we’re honoring her on Sunday, May 12 by turning our attention to her instead of our friends and feeds. Just set your profile pic with the official #SocialBlackout image, update your status with a warm Mother’s Day wish and say “arrivederci” to your social sites for a day.

Spread the Word:

1. Join the #SocialBlackout event page
2. Invite your friends to join
3. Log off Social Media on Mother’s Day

It’s really that simple.

#SocialBlackout Badge

Moms, wouldn’t you like a day where everyone pays attention to only you? Where you don’t have to fuss with electronics or watch your family pay more attention to their electronics than you. Relax and enjoy family time this Mother’s Day! #SocialBlackout Day is for you!

Awwww, you deserve to have everyone paying attention to you instead of their gadgets, you’re an amazing mom! And I vote for the breakfast burrito bar 🙂
