10 Reasons to Visit Virginia Beach

July 12, 2011 By LaVonne

Spread the love

We travel for my husband’s work a lot. In fact, one of the funnest things about traveling so much is being able to visit new places and participate in local tourist attractions and events. Our family really does have a lot of fun traveling memories. I also enjoy sharing with you all the fun things that we do, as well as photos.

I have not visited Virginia Beach yet during our travels. But, I love the beach and I would love to go and visit Virginia Beach one day with my family.

Many of the things we love to do are outdoors. It is fun and easy to plan day time trips and usually more cost effective for a family. Based on online research {I plan all our trips online now!}, here are my picks.

10 Reasons to Visit Virginia Beach (with the kids)

1. Virginia Aquarium – having a toddler means doing things that will appeal to her. So the Virginia Aquarium would be on the list of things to do. Our Princess loves the aquarium. With over 700,000 gallons of aquarium’s, I am sure that the Virginia Aquarium would not disappoint.

2. Virginia First Landing State Park – an outdoor picnic and hike at this state park would be something our family would love to do as well. We love visiting state parks and learning about local wildlife, plants and history.

3. Beach Street USA – with family events and fun planned all summer long, we’d be sure to find some entertainment we’d love here.

4. Grommet Island Park – this beach playground and park would be the first thing our family did I am sure! A fun playground right on the beach is something my Princess would love as well as my husband. Which leads to the next thing on our list.

5. Surfing – my husband loves surfing, so I know this would be in our top ten. While he is surfing the Princess and I will play in the water, build sand castles and have lots of fun on the beach.

6. Kayaking – an eco-friendly kayak tour would be loads of fun for our family. We love being on the water. Plus, the chance to see dolphins would be exciting. If we don’t see any dolphins while kayaking we can always do number 7 on the list:

7.  Dolphin Watching Boat Tour – riding on a boat together and talking photos of dolphins would be great. We’d make family memories to last a lifetime.

8. Pirate Ship Adventure – my Princess loves pirates. Really. She does. So if we could take a Pirate Ship Adventure, it would be a hit. There is a show, songs, snacks and even a limbo contest. This is a perfect kid friendly thing to do in Virginia Beach.

9. Mount Trashmore Park – you know that when we travel we always find cool fun parks for our Princess to play in. Mount Trashmore Park is that cool park we’d definitely go to. Once a landfill, it is now a park and skate park.

10. Virginia Beach Boardwalk – there is something about boardwalks on the beach. They are just so fun. This boardwalk is not only rich in history but stretches for 3 miles! With entertainment, vendors and restaurants, this boardwalk is a must for a family vacation. We could even rent bikes to ride down the 28 feet wide boardwalk.

Don’t these things sound like fun? Virginia Beach is a perfect place to take a family vacation.
