Simple Everyday Breakfast for St. Patrick’s Day

March 4, 2013 By LaVonne

st patricks day breakfast

We are not the type of family that skips breakfast. We all eat breakfast and like breakfast and I am glad for that. We like simple everyday breakfast in our house. I also like to save money while shopping. We often eat the same foods for breakfast and can easily get into a breakfast rut. For me it is some form of toast and yogurt. My husband eats oatmeal pretty  much daily. My Princess eats cereal – she loves cereal.

Safeway is offering an amazing Buy 4 Save $4 sale in a Rise and Shine with Savings promotion. I went shopping with my Princess over the weekend and was able to not only find great breakfast products but also products that will make an easy St. Patrick’s Day breakfast for my Princess.

I checked out a book this week about St. Patrick’s Day and we talked about wearing green and pinching, and I even told a story about my own childhood experience with forgetting to wear green. She was intrigued.

Trix and Silk Soymilk are part of the Buy 4 Save $4 deal at Safeway. I wanted my Princess to pick out Lucky Charms but she saw this specially marked box of Trix with a free DVD and could not pass it up. It worked though. It is quite colorful – much like a rainbow. We colored our Very Vanilla Silk Soymilk with green dye (that was fun for her!).

I was even able to get two more breakfast ideas in this prom0tion. For me, I picked out decaf Gevalia coffee with International Delight Irish Creme creamer. I love Irish Creme flavor and it went with the easy St. Patrick’s Day breakfast idea! My husband loves orange juice and Cheerios so that was perfect for him too. No fun theme breakfast for him. Buh!

We are big lovers of Silk! We use their Almond milk often. Especially for the Morning breakfasts! It is so great when you have such an awesome store like your Safeway to find great deals on great breakfast foods. We don’t have a Safeway. But I wish we did. I visited one once while traveling and I loved the choices they offered.

Easter would be fun too 🙂 This one was a St. Patrick’s Day idea but breakfast for Easter would work too!

We’re big fans of Silk here, too. And english muffins! Can you believe that they don’t carry English Muffins in our local grocery stores?!?!

We live for simple breakfasts here too. I don’t feel like hopping out of bed and standing in the kitchen for an hour! We typically do cereal and milk or waffles.

My kids are big breakfast eaters and really prefer some sort of eggs but on busy mornings they enjoy Multi-grain cheerios. Breakfast is so important to give our families a great start to the morning. I love english muffins so I need to be on the look out our next grocery shopping trip.

The green milk is just brilliant! I also need to try the Irish Creme coffee flavoring…my current obsession is Salted Caramel Mocha. The buy four save $4 sounds like a great idea- too bad we don’t have Safeway down here. 🙁
