I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for Mabel’s Labels. I received a voucher to facilitate my review as well as a promotional item to thank me for my participation.

Did you go to summer camp as a child? I only was able to go away one summer as a kid to summer camp. It was one week long and for teens. I had so much fun. I actually wished I could have gone every single year. We were poor, summer camp was expensive, and summer was always a busy time for my family because my dad was a commercial fisherman. But that one year that I went? Awesome! I can still remember the girls that were in my cabin and the fun we had.

Do you send your kids to summer camp?

Next summer, we will be sending my daughter to church summer camp. You have to be eight years old for our church summer camp. There are horses, boating, badges to earn, classes, worship, crafts and so much more! I know she’ll love it. They even have family camp, so maybe that first year we’ll all go together as a family and she can get used to it.

Get Ready for Summer Camp

5 Ways to Get Your Child Ready for Summer Camp

  1. If the camp is close enough, take a camp tour with your child if not tour the website together
  2. Practice “camp” with sleepovers
  3. Start conversations about camp (expectations, what to do, how to make friends, talking with counselors, etc…)
  4. Pack your child a favorite blanket, or pillow case, or stuffed animal
  5. Label your child’s belongings

Tips to Make Summer Camp Easier

  • Talk to your child about trusting the camp counselor
  • Let them help pack their belongings
  • Bring a friend so your child has a buddy at camp
  • Skype with your child to curb homesickness

Do you have any great summer camp tips to share?
