Did you have a great Father’s Day? We had an awesome Father’s Day. My husband slept in, went to the gym, watched a family movie with the kids. While he was watching the movie with the kiddos, I made him Apple Pie Pancakes. This canned apple pie filling was a big hit on top of the pancakes. Cooking with almond milk is easy when making yummy pancakes.

We used unsweetened Silk Almond Coconut Blend milk in our pancake mix. I found this almond milk blend at our local Safeway and knew I had to try it in recipes. It is the perfect milk to add to recipes like pancakes or smoothies. {Plus it’s only 35 calories per serving!}

Do you have a Safeway near you? If so, you can find it back with the other milk and near the creamers.

We topped our pancakes with apple pie filling, maple syrup and chopped walnuts. Since my husband worked out I also poured him a glass of Silk Almondmilk Protein + Fiber. The protein is perfect to drink after a workout – and honestly almondmilk from Silk just tastes great. This is a thicker consistency than their other milk options due to the protein and fiber and my husband and my dad both loved it.

Yep, my dad even came over for pancakes. {Notice his favorite is over easy eggs with pancakes stacked up.} The whole family finished watching a movie in the living room while we ate a big breakfast with Silk Almondmilk. What a great Father’s Day celebration!

      I saw that post, Rachel. We talked about making Strawberry Banana Smoothies this week with the AlmondCoconut Blend. I think we will.

    Yum! My hubby LOVES pancakes, I will have to try them this way! Thanks for the tip!

      My husband loves pancakes too. He actually makes them for the kids 3x a week. So when I made them, my daughter was worried that I “didn’t know how”. LOL! It’s her daddy’s specialty!

    I haven’t tried Silk yet, but my wife swears by it. I’ve never been a big nut fan in the first place, so I guess that’s my hangup.

      The almond milk is the one I enjoy. But I like that almond taste. {The same goes for soy.} But, I am still getting used to the coconut milk flavor. That’s why I am adding it to recipes instead of drinking it.

    That’s a fun way to eat your eggs and pancakes together. High five to your dad. 🙂

    We go through a ton of almond milk. My husband likes the unsweetened original and we use it in everything!

      I’ve noticed that almondmilk doesn’t need to be sweetened like soy, in my opinion. It has a great almond flavor all by itself.

      That’s great Kelly. It is so healthy for you! I need to make smoothies this week with the AlmondCoconut Blend.

    My son drank soy Silk as a baby and I’m wondering if we should try this, it looks delicious!

      Yes, Jen, give almondmilk a try. It really has a great flavor. My SIL gives her three boys almondmilk solely. She doesn’t like giving them soymilk. We just might make the switch from soymilk – it tastes that great.

    I’ve never tried Almond Milk. I’ve heard it’s really good, though, and those pancakes look yummy!

      You must try it Crystal – Silk’s is very tasty. I am loving the almondmilk and so is my hubby. The kids are so used to soymilk that I don’t know if they’d appreciate a long term switch. I need to get it more often so they can get used to it.

    The one and only time I tried Silk, I wish I wouldn’t have tasted it with the thought of milk. It was kind of like when you take a sip of tea when you think it’s soda. Kinda freaks ya out for a minute. But I would most definitely cook with it. I’m all for anything that is healthier for me.
