Pool Party Ideas

May 22, 2014 By LaVonne

Spread the love

I don’t know about you all, but I have been quite happy with the weather we’ve been having in Western Washington. Sunshine, Sunshine, Sunshine. Oh yeah! Both of my kids were in swimming lessons for the first time this past month and did great. They passed and are now ready to take their next levels.

Do your kids take swimming lessons?

With the summer season fast approaching, my mind tends to think about my Little Man’s birthday. This year he is turning two and we will be having a party at our local Children’s Museum. But when he is swimming well, I will be hosting a pool party in our community pool for him. There are picnic tables and a clubhouse that we can rent. Oh, I can’t wait!

Have you been to a pool party?
If so, what did you like about it?

The Hostess with the Mostess really has some great pool party ideas on her blog here but I thought I’d link to a few more great pool party ideas. {Honestly, you must check out Hostess with the Mostess’ Pool Party!}

Pool Bag Checklist

Since my Little Man is two – Huggies Little Swimmers are the first thing we put in our pool bag. I love their easy open sides! Have you tried this brand of swim diapers? They are the only ones we buy for the pool (and we swim all summer!) Other pool bag essentials for us include:

  1. sunscreen
  2. towel
  3. water bottle
  4. goggles
  5. snacks

What are your pool bag essentials?

Ready for the pool? For instant fun just add water. Choose the only swimpants with easy open sides: Huggies Little Swimmers Swimpants.

You can never have enough sunscreen in your pool bag. It comes off so quickly in the water!

Yes, I completely agree. We are always reapplying our sunscreen – especially on the kids!

Sun screen is the biggest. My daughter burns through 70 spf so I am slathering her constantly

Thankfully, none of us burn quickly. But we use at least 30 SPF for our family when we are out in the sunshine. I don’t think I’ve ever bought 70 SPF. Is that pretty thick? At a pool party, the spray sunscreen is what we like to use.

Wish we had a pool! But I do love using those Huggies Little Swimmers when we are at our local watering hole.

Yes, Huggies is a name I trust when taking my Little Man to the pool!

We are not big swimmers around here – no kids, no pool but when we do go out on the river we take lots of sunscreen

We have lakes and a river nearby too, Patty and love those as well. We take our sunscreen and Huggies both on those trips too!

Love the gummy fish in the blue M&Ms. So cute!

I loved that idea too. It is so simple and looks cute! A great Pool Party treat for sure.

What CUTE pool party ideas! In my pool bag, I would also include a hair clip, because I have long hair and it can help to tie it back so it doesn’t go everywhere, LOL! And in the same vein, conditioner, because chlorine really dries my hair out.

I always need a hair tie at the pool too! We keep my daughter’s short right now – so no hair tie for her. We also purchase the shampoo and conditioner for chlorine exposure. My daughter’s hair gets so damaged each summer!

A pool party sounds like a lot of fun already! It’s 90 here today so during the hours of at least 1-3 or so it’s just too darn hot to do anything outside. Except for being in a pool. Great ideas and tips here!

It hit 78 here in Western Washington which is amazing! I was hoping our pool was open today. Our community pool opens this weekend!

I wish we had a Summer birthday in the house, so we could do a pool party theme! Maybe one of these years, we’ll do one just for fun!

Some people have been known to have half birthday parties so they can celebrate in the summer. That’d be fun. My Princess is a December birthday 🙂

The swim diapers are still a must have for my youngest son. He is being a pain about potty training. I can’t forget the sunscreen and towels either.

My mother in law has a pool so we won’t be taking swimming lessons this year. I hope all three of my kids will fully learn!
