Winter Travel in Baton Rouge: What To Do

January 28, 2014 By LaVonne

Spread the love

This post brought to you by Enterprise Rent-A-Car. All opinions are 100% mine.

Can you believe this winter we are having? We are in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and packed for great weather. Normally, 60s and low 70s are the norm here this time of year. But, all this crazy winter weather has created a shutdown of the city not once but twice.

Here are 5 things we’d like to do in Baton Rouge while we are here:

  1. Louisiana’s Old State Capitol {including the Old Governor’s Mansion}
  2. Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center
  3. The Baton Rouge Zoo
  4. USS Kidd Veteran’s Memorial
  5. Louisiana Art and Science Museum

Have you been to Baton Rouge? Where do you recommend we go?

When we travel for my husband’s work we generally fly to our locations and rent a vehicle. This time we are driving this really awesome Hyundai with great technology in it. Do you know who we are renting from? Enterprise. We love Enterprise.

We have had a great history with this car rental company. We can usually leave the car at the local airport and they don’t charge a daily fee for me to be on as a driver. We love that. Plus, their customer service has been great.

Another awesome thing about Enterprise is their Plus Your Points promotion. Through March 31, 2014, Enterprise Plus Members can enroll in the Plus Your Points promotion and earn double points on qualifying rentals. So you can get free car rentals faster! That is something I love! Also, there are no black out dates and your points won’t expire.

All points activity is tracked through the Enterprise Plus Your Points promotion website. A participant must register for the Plus Your Points promotion in order to receive points. To enroll in the Enterprise Plus Your Points promotion, click here. You’ll be asked to enter your Enterprise Plus Member # upon enrollment. If you don’t have an Enterprise Plus Member number, you can sign up here.

Ways to Earn Points

  • Purchase a qualifying rental (earn double points)
  • Add a GPS unit as part of a qualifying rental (earn 50 bonus points)
  • Share the qualifying “Plus Your Points” message on Twitter (and earn 20 bonus points)
  • Refer a friend into the “Plus Your Points” promotion, who subsequently rents with Enterprise at least once during the promotion earning period (earn 300 bonus points)

If you could travel anywhere this winter, where would you go?

Yes, we are used to mild winters in Western Washington. So when we came here we are surprised to be getting this cold weather. Saturday it will be back to normal. We can’t wait!

If I could travel anywhere, I’d go to Pensacola to visit my husband! I’ve never been to Baton Rouge, so I don’t have any suggestion, but this weather sure is crazy!

I have not been to Baton Rouge and I was only to New Orleans for a work trip but did get out a bit to see some things. I would really like to take a trip to LA with the family.

No mine. Free stock photos. But I did link to them 🙂 I thought so too though. I stayed inside during this ugly freeze!

I just turned a 2014 Dodge Durango back into Enterprise yesterday. I enjoyed the nice ride while my car is in the shop. I now need to win the lottery because I would love to have a big SUV or Van so that I can’t tote all the kids with lots of space. Plus the seat warms are nice on my back.

Seat warmers are so nice in the winter, Christy! We’ve never actually had a vehicle with them in it. But I sure could get used to that!

I’ll let you know, Michelle. We have two weeks left here and I’d like to go before we leave!

I never been, but always thought it’d be a fun place to see, if for no other reason than to visit for historical purposes 🙂

The weather has been nuts here in Georgia too! I hope the weather warms up so you can really get out and enjoy your trip. I’ve never been to Baton Rouge but love New Orleans.
