Our Little Man turned 5 months old this last week. It is so amazing how fast time is going with this second child. He is not eating his organic rice cereal and loving it. I recently introduced some jarred organic baby food (step 1 for 4 months and up) and he also loves this. When an opportunity arose to review the book Blender Baby Food by Nicole Young from Robert Rose Books, I was excited. Jarred organic baby food is not cheap. I want to be able to make my own organic baby food for our Little Man.
About Blender Baby Food
Making nutritious homemade baby food has never been so easy! Whether you choose to make all your own baby food or just some of it, the blender has proven to be a great way to offer new flavors in a baby-friendly texture.
There are three really great reasons to make your own baby food:
1) You know what’s in it, thereby ensuring healthy and wholesome meals.
2) You can tailor the texture to your baby’s preferences.
3) You can shape your baby’s tastes and help him or her learn what fresh foods taste like.
So forget store-bought baby food and make these delicious and easy-to-prepare recipes. The new edition features 25 new recipes, information on the basics of feeding babies, meal plans and nutritional analysis for each recipe. Recipes are categorized according to age, making it easy and convenient to create recipes that match a baby’s progress. You can feel good knowing you are giving your baby the best nutritional advantage.

My Review of Blender Baby Food
With over 175 recipes in this second edition, Blender Baby Food is such a great resource for parents. We are in Indiana for a couple more weeks without our blender, but right when I get home I am going to be making our own organic baby food using recipes in this book. {I should mention the book recommends starting babies at 6 months, we started our Little Man earlier than that because he was holding his head up on his own and showing great interest in food.}
I really appreciate the sample meal plans they have for babies who are breast fed {there is also a meal plan for formula fed babies}. I will start by making carrots, peas, and squash and also fruits like apples, bananas, and avocados. I am pretty excited to try it out actually. We didn’t make baby food for our Princess. This book is so comprehensive and provides ideas for vegetarians as well. There are directions on how to store the baby food with great ideas.
I highly recommend Blender Baby Food if you have a baby in your home. It is so much more frugal to make your own food and so easy! If you have a baby in your family this is a great Christmas gift!
